Adventures and Action for the Audio Listen

Would you consider the audio edition of Magician'southward Gambit to be better than the print version?

I've read, and re-read this excellent hazard series by David Eddings several times over the by 20 yrs., but but recently purchased it in audio class. I must say Cameron Beierle has a souvenir with bringing out the accents and attitudes of each character. Information technology took me some time to warm up to his voice, because I had already established the personalities in my head, only one time I opened up to his reading of the story, information technology all became new again!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Magician'due south Gambit?

When Ce'nedra found out she was going to marry Garion

What about Cameron Beierle's operation did you like?

His voice is warm and total, and perfect for bringing a grapheme to life.

Was at that place a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Garion revisited Faldors farm.....that moment, among others brought me to tears.

Any boosted comments?

If you similar Lord of the Rings or Chronicles of Narnia, you will most definitely beloved this action/adventure series.

I liked it.

I stand up past my statement in my review of Pawn of Prophecy. The best narrator for the Belgariad novels, for me at least, has ever been and will always be Jon Beryl, who narrated the Talking Book versions. But Cameron Beirle does a ameliorate chore of giving the characters personality. The problem he sometimes has is that sometimes multiple characters sound exactly the same. He as well yet often has difficulty pronouncing the same names the aforementioned consistently. But as I said before, this can perhaps be excused. Not but does he have to attempt to requite vocalism to names that are hard to read let alone say out loud, just I suspect that English wasn't his native language judging from his accent. That would go far harder on anyone. But he tries and he does a good chore despite these difficulties. I've e'er wanted the Belgariad and Malloreon to be avaible in audiobook form commercially, but for years nobody seemed interested. Thanks to Books in Motion I got my wish.
As for this volume, Cameron has some more new characters to deal with. He did a practiced job capturing the ancient sorrow of the god Mara and the evil of Ctuchik, as well as his fear and panic in the last moments of his cofrontation with Belgarath. He also does a expert job on the emotionally conflicted Relg. I said before the Cameron was beginning to detect his footing with Queen of Sorcery and he does seem to exist improving with each book.

Shurely Shome Mishtake?

I remember reading these books as a teenager and enjoying them; equally I currently walk to and fro piece of work, I thought they'd be platonic for a bit of commuting encephalon candy. The stories are nevertheless as much fun as I call back, although the constant repetition of each character's establishing traits tin be a little trying - for case, attempt taking a drink every time someone says 'you're a bad human, Silk'. You'll be on the flooring in no time...
Unintentional hilarity is provided past the narrator, who is obviously a perfectionist as he strives constantly to better his characterisations, oft in the middle of a sentence! And so Silk is either from Eastern Europe, Chelsea, or even Turkey or Greece, depending on what the narrator's feeling like - frequently'southward he's all 3 in a sentence. This can be annoying, simply at least non as bad as it was in Queen of Sorcery, the book preceding this i (...all the Knights sounded like John Cleese in Monty Python and the Holy Grail). Less cheese, please.

Magician'south Gambit

The Prophecy continues

I cant fifty-fifty cover everything that happens in this book. And so much happens in each book its difficult to think where one volume begins and the other ends.

I do no Ce'Nedra is accepting her fate every bit a bride to Riva. She's coming to believe in the impossible.

Garion is coming into his ability. Part of the gang separates for condom while others are notwithstanding coming along.

I can not imagine the planning Belgareth and Polgara had to practise to ensure the Prophesies would happen.

I dearest how the grouping seems crazy and yet it fits and works perfectly together.

I cant wait for the balance.

The side by side best thing to reading the books yourself.

What made the experience of listening to Sorcerer'south Gambit the most enjoyable?

Beierle gets a scrap carried away with off-the-mark accents (still fun to heed to, though), and mis-pronounced names, but he probably has the widest range of voices of any narrator I've listened to so far. And he does a adept job of voice acting, not just reading.

Any additional comments?

Beierle had his faults--he gets a footling carried abroad with his accents (and I retrieve he misses the mark significantly on a few), only his narrations are the best and then far.

However, I seriously wish the narrators would put in the time to go the name pronunciations right. I really don't sympathise how they can mangle some of them so desperately. Here's something "straight from the horse'south mouth" I plant afterwards a 15 second Google search.

Fabulously portrayed! Cameron Beierle is Genius!

If you could sum upwards Magician'southward Gambit in iii words, what would they be?

Magical, Compelling, Envigorating

Who was your favorite graphic symbol and why?

Prince "Silk" Keldar would have to be my favorite! The quick witted and slick-tongued piffling man never fails to surprise, impress, and humor me.

What does Cameron Beierle bring to the story that you lot wouldn't experience if y'all just read the book?

Cameron Beierle is his own bandage. The voice talents used throughout the series is never duplicated between characters, and e'er premeditated. Information technology's as if Cameron is then engrossed into the story that he feels what each character feels and knows how to portray their tiredness by yawning and talking at teh same time, or their mysticism with a inquiring tone, and, of course, malicious humour, equally perfectly portrayed by Silk. I must admit, that if he doesn't play the phonation of Silk when ever a picture is fabricated, I'll be sorely disappointed with nearly whatever other portrayal of the sharp faced and sinical fiddling prince.

Was this a volume you wanted to heed to all in one sitting?

Admittedly, I listened to it over the class of 4 sittings, because of minions running around the identify, however, information technology was captivating enough that when I listened to information technology while dead tired and falling comatose, I stayed awake for a couple of more than hours because of the compulsion to know what Beierle is gonna say next.

Another corking listening feel

All the readings I have fabricated my way through accept been corking and so far.

My only effect w/ this book is the charecter Relg (sp?), the cave diviner. He plays an essential role, but he is by far i of the most annoying literary charecters I have come up beyond.
