Somehow you've ended up with a path alias in your organization that is missing the leading slash. Look in your database, at the {url_alias} table, and effort to find an alias that does non begin with a leading slash.
What is your environment?

What sort of hosting are you on?
Do you have access to PHPMyAdmin?
Do you have access to the command line and the sql control?

Hosting
I'm on namehero.com hosting, and I accept admission to the cpanel. As far as I know, I don't have command line access. Yes, I take access to PHPMyAdmin, and information technology gives me information_schema and j… .
Use PHPMyAdmin

Your database is "
j…". Utilize PHPMyAdmin to examine the{url_alias}table, and try to find an alias that does not begin with a leading slash.(And don't post the proper name of your database publicly - somebody may try to hack it - I've shortened it.)

Nothing in url_alias
When I await at the url_alias table, there is nothing at that place, and this message appears at the top of the screen:
MySQL returned an empty result fix (i.eastward. zero rows). (Query took 0.0003 seconds.)
Sorry that did non work out.

Sad that did not work out. At to the lowest degree y'all at present know how to examine the database.
Btw. currently posting images in forums is a very non-intuitive process. But I understand your respond without having to see a screenshot.

Adjacent step
In that instance, what do I do at present? I can't use Drupal if it gives me an error when I click on "basic site settings". As I understand information technology, the Basic Site Settings are essential to building the site. Someone must have seen this fault earlier and know how to accost it....
What is the URL?

What is the URL appearing in your browser'southward accost field when you click on "Basic site settings"?
If your site is named "case.com" it should be: "
example.com/admin/config/arrangement/site-information".If it is "
instance.comadmin/config/arrangement/site-data", effort inbound the missing slash by mitt and reload the page.If this turns out to be the cause, the adjacent step is to set up it. The simplest manner to do that is to re-install from scratch. If that is not an choice because yous've spent a lot of time creating content for your site and there is no backup, you lot take a trouble.

The URL you report (
http://sitename.com/admin/config/arrangement/site-data) looks correct. You should never go this mistake merely after a clean install of Drupal 8.
I know nothing about your hosting company (namehero), but I presume they accept some sort of button in cpanel that you press to install Drupal 8? If you press that button and the newly created site has this error, and so the trouble is with your hosting company's install script, and you need to get support from them.
If yous install Drupal 8 yourself, and so we demand to know how you do it to make progress on this.

Thanks for the information
Thanks for the information. I have sent in a request to the hosting visitor to cancel my account. I take been in touch with their technical support twice and they insist it's a Drupal problem, not theirs. All the same, the reason I contacted tech support in the first place is that I really did experience information technology was a flaw at their level. Yes, I did use their push in cpanel to install Drupal.
